Epson C80/82 Cap Assembly Tubing

A blank output problem is usually caused by a simple printhead clog. On printers that use Dura Brite inks the problem can be much more complex than just a simple clog. The problem is the ink purge tube on the cap assembly has become disconnected. This usually happens after the ink cartridge(s)have been replaced. The objective is to reconnect the tubing so the pump will be able to create negative pressure and suck the ink through the printhead again and the repair is fairly simple.

To access the cap assembly: 1. Turn the printer on and lift the top cover to it's open position. 2. Initiate a cleaning cycle or; push the 'paper feed' or 'cartridge change' button and hold for three seconds. When the printhead (cartridge holder) starts to move from it's parked position on the right side, immediately pull the printer's AC power plug. (This allows you to safely and freely move the print head back and forth without damaging the printer.)

Move the printhead to the left and look at the printhead cap assembly (where it was parked on the right) to see if the tube is disconnected. If the tube is disconnected simply reconnect it and you are done. The photos below will show the cap assembly and the ink purge tube.
